Graphcore is seeking a Principal System Test Operations Engineer to lead the technical direction of system-level manufacturing test for high-performance AI infrastructure systems. You will translate product requirements into robust test strategies for manufacturing partners and directly influence product quality across boards, blades, and rack-level systems.
Key responsibilities include defining, deploying, and maintaining test platforms, fixtures, and diagnostic solutions; solving complex test issues; and driving improvements across product lines. You'll partner closely with hardware, software, and manufacturing teams to ensure systems are thoroughly tested and proven ready for production.
This role combines hands-on technical depth with broad influence across the organization. You'll shape future test strategy, mentor other engineers, and establish practical standards across teams. The Product Test and Diagnosis team finds and manages hardware defects across chips, boards, and finished systems, spanning manufacturing sites and deployed products. Decisions are driven by evidence, technical judgment, and root cause analysis.
Required qualifications: 15+ years of proven experience in PCBA and system product validation, including 10+ years in manufacturing testing within production environments. Strong understanding of electronics fundamentals, PCBA/blade/rack-level manufacturing processes, and failure mechanisms. Proficiency with Linux command-line environments and technical troubleshooting. Experience with local and remote operation of test equipment (oscilloscopes, DMMs, clock generators, SMUs, PSUs). Proven problem-solving, communication, and presentation skills in fast-paced, complex environments.
Desirable qualifications include knowledge of high-speed interconnects (PCIe Gen5/6, Ethernet), DC-SCM and IPMI; server and data-center-level functional testing experience; manufacturing test program development at platform level; proficiency in C, Python, Java with Git experience; and Statistical Process Control (SPC) expertise.
