Palo Alto Networks seeks a Principal Software Engineer to join the machine identity and access team, responsible for designing and developing core services within the Cortex SaaS platform. This role focuses on secrets management and secure access to sensitive organizational assets, integrating with major cloud vendors (AWS, Azure, GCP) and DevOps ecosystems.
You will architect and implement advanced microservices using a diverse tech stack including Golang, Java, Python, and Ruby, working across the full software development lifecycle from planning through production. The team emphasizes container-based architectures, event-oriented design patterns, and cloud-native technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
Key responsibilities include designing new features for machine identity solutions, researching emerging technologies and platforms, collaborating with security architects and product managers, and participating in agile development cycles with a focus on code quality, scalability, and security. You'll work within a cross-functional team of developers, architects, and QA engineers to deliver complex solutions meeting enterprise security and performance standards.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field (or equivalent elite military/technical background); 8+ years of professional experience with Golang, Java, or Python; strong design and analytical capabilities; ability to rapidly learn and apply new technologies; proactive mindset with drive for excellence; excellent teamwork and communication skills.
Highly valued: Ruby on Rails experience, AWS development expertise, microservices and event-driven architecture knowledge, container orchestration proficiency, deep understanding of security and networking best practices, fluency in English with strong written communication.
