Veeva Systems is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join a founding team building a new AI-driven platform for life sciences companies to manage safety, regulatory, and clinical development. This is a rare opportunity to influence and grow a codebase and engineering organization from the ground up at a $3B+ revenue public benefit corporation.
You will own full feature implementation across design, development, deployment, and production support. The role emphasizes daily code contribution (Python-focused), collaboration with product and development teams on technical design, rapid problem-solving, and defining engineering best practices. You'll provide expert code reviews and mentor engineers of all experience levels, developing talent through structured mentorship.
The team is AI-first in two ways: leveraging AI to drive engineering productivity and discipline, and building a product that applies AI innovatively to meaningful life sciences problems. Within your first year, you'll have live customers on the platform and a thriving, growing team.
Required: 12+ years of proven software development expertise with production-level Python; extensive experience developing high-scale enterprise SaaS cloud applications; proven track record architecting and building high-volume products at scale; hands-on experience with open-source tools including Python, Git, FastAPI, and Pydantic; ability to thrive in fast-paced, startup-like environments; proven mentorship and team-elevation skills; high work ethic and integrity; excellent verbal and written English communication.
