Veeva Systems is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join a founding team building a new AI-driven platform for life sciences companies to manage safety, regulatory, and clinical development. This is a rare opportunity to shape engineering culture and architecture from the ground up at a $3B+ revenue public benefit corporation.
You will own full-stack feature delivery—from technical design through production support—while driving engineering excellence across a growing team. The role emphasizes AI-assisted development for productivity and building products that apply AI to genuinely innovative solutions in life sciences. You'll collaborate closely with product and engineering leadership on technical strategy, mentor engineers across experience levels, and establish best practices and coding standards.
Key responsibilities include daily code contribution (Python-first), comprehensive code reviews, rapid problem-solving on complex technical challenges, and strategic mentorship to elevate team performance. Within your first year, you'll have live customers on the platform and a thriving engineering organization behind it.
You bring 12+ years of production software development experience, with deep expertise in enterprise SaaS at scale. You're proficient in Python, Git, FastAPI, Pydantic, and modern open-source tooling. You thrive in fast-paced, startup-like environments, communicate clearly across technical and non-technical audiences, and have a proven track record mentoring and growing engineering talent. High integrity, strong work ethic, and alignment with "do the right thing" values are essential.
