Okta is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join the Privileged Access Management (PAM) team in Bengaluru. This is a staff-level fullstack engineering role focused on building secure, enterprise-grade PAM solutions using modern cloud-native technologies.
You will design and develop end-to-end features using JavaScript frontends and backend services (Go, Java, or C++ preferred), leveraging AI pair-programming tools like GitHub Copilot and Claude to accelerate development while maintaining high code quality. The role involves architecting cloud-based solutions, building reusable UI components for a no-code builder experience, and leading technical design for key initiatives.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and implementing secure, scalable privileged access management solutions
- Building performant, reusable UI components using modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Angular, Vue)
- Leading technical design reviews and mentoring junior developers
- Evaluating and optimizing system performance, resolving bottlenecks
- Collaborating with architects, QA, product, security, and operations teams
- Conducting thorough code reviews ensuring scalability, redundancy, and multi-tenancy
- Monitoring and troubleshooting owned services and frameworks
Required qualifications:
- 9+ years of programming experience in Go, Java, or C++ (Go preferred)
- 8+ years working with PostgreSQL or equivalent relational databases
- Strong knowledge of modern frontend JavaScript frameworks
- Experience with AWS, Redis, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, Kinesis, Kafka, Docker
- Solid understanding of REST APIs, network security, authentication, and authorization
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent (Master's preferred)
- Demonstrated expertise with cloud-based software security product development
- Strong computer science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms)
- Experience with Agile development processes
