Salary: PLN 308,025 - 513,375 / annual
Turnitin is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join the Shared Services team and shape the technical direction of core platform capabilities used across their education integrity and learning performance products. This is a highly influential individual contributor role for an experienced backend engineer with deep expertise in distributed systems and cloud-native architectures.
You will lead the design and development of shared backend services and platform capabilities that support millions of users worldwide. Key responsibilities include driving architectural decisions and technical strategy across multiple teams, building scalable and highly available cloud-native solutions using Java and AWS technologies, mentoring engineers throughout the organization, and collaborating with product, architecture, and engineering teams to solve complex technical challenges. You will champion best practices in software quality, performance, reliability, and security.
Required qualifications include significant experience building and operating large-scale backend systems, strong expertise in Java and modern cloud technologies, and hands-on experience with AWS serverless services (Lambda, DynamoDB, API Gateway, SNS, SQS, EventBridge) as well as Kubernetes and cloud-native technologies. You should have experience with CI/CD tools, a strong understanding of distributed systems and software architecture, and a proven track record of influencing technical direction and leading complex engineering initiatives. Excellent collaboration and communication skills within distributed teams, plus a passion for mentoring and supporting engineer growth, are essential.
Nice-to-have skills include experience with AI/ML technologies, SaaS or EdTech environments, and modern frontend technologies like React.
