Rad AI is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead the technical vision and architecture of its flagship reporting product—a core initiative transforming how radiologists work. Founded by a radiologist and backed by $140M+ in funding (including a $68M Series C), Rad AI has built one of the largest proprietary radiology report datasets and AI solutions that have uncovered hundreds of new cancer diagnoses and reduced error rates by nearly 50% across tens of millions of reports. In this highly visible role, you will partner directly with the CTO and Chief Product Officer to shape the technical direction of the reporting platform, which is already used by thousands of radiologists daily and supports over one-third of U.S. radiology groups and healthcare systems. You'll be responsible for architecting forward-thinking solutions that deliver measurable business value while anticipating emerging technological trends. Key responsibilities include: - Partnering with executive leadership to define and execute the technical vision for the reporting product - Elevating engineering excellence across the organization by mentoring teams and establishing best practices - Designing scalable systems that support rapid growth and deliver meaningful impact - Collaborating with adjacent teams to accelerate innovation and achieve breakthrough results - Establishing robust engineering standards and guiding implementation of complex technical systems - Fostering an inclusive culture that encourages diverse perspectives and open communication You should have demonstrated success as a principal engineer or equivalent technical leadership role, with exceptional expertise in modern software architecture and engineering principles. AI experience is highly valuable given the company's focus on transformative healthcare AI. You'll need a proven track record of designing and delivering complex technical systems with substantial business impact, and experience implementing architecture standards that enable engineering excellence. The role is hybrid, based in San Francisco with expectations of 4 days per week onsite.
