Anduril Industries is seeking a Principal Software Engineer specializing in Cryptography to lead platform security engineering across the organization. This role combines deep expertise in cryptography, systems security, and secure architecture with the ability to drive security strategy across business lines and the platform.
You will own the design of Anduril's most critical security systems, including cryptographic infrastructure for autonomous platforms, hardware root-of-trust architectures for robotic systems, and secure communication protocols for contested environments. You'll set the technical direction that shapes how security is built into every product.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning the technical vision and architecture for platform security across Anduril's product ecosystem
- Designing cryptographic systems, protocols, and key management architectures for autonomous and robotic platforms operating in contested and disconnected environments
- Leading the design of hardware root-of-trust architectures integrating TPMs, TEEs, HSMs, and secure boot across diverse embedded platforms
- Driving strategy for promoting business-line security implementations into shared, composable platform services
- Serving as the senior technical authority for security architecture reviews across the organization
- Defining security patterns, reference architectures, and engineering standards
- Mentoring and developing senior engineers on the team
- Representing Anduril's security engineering capabilities to customers, partners, and auditors
- Evaluating emerging threats, cryptographic standards, and security technologies
Required qualifications include 12+ years of software engineering experience with significant depth in systems security and cryptography, expert-level knowledge of cryptographic protocol design, deep experience with hardware security (TPM, TEE, HSM, secure boot), proficiency in C++, Rust, or Go, experience designing security architectures for embedded and robotic systems, track record of leading cross-organizational technical initiatives, strong communication skills, and eligibility to obtain and maintain active U.S. Secret security clearance.
Preferred qualifications include experience with post-quantum cryptography, distributed key generation, threshold cryptographic schemes, background in defense/aerospace/autonomous systems with exposure to FIPS 140 or Common Criteria, experience designing secure communication protocols for autonomous platforms, deep knowledge of Linux kernel security, and experience building platform security services.
