Snowflake is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join the Apps & Experiences (AppEx) organization, which powers Snowsight—the unified user experience platform used by every major Snowflake customer. This role sits at the intersection of AI, platform infrastructure, and developer experience.
You will design and build AI-first platforms and developer tooling that significantly enhance productivity for Snowflake's engineering teams. Key responsibilities include:
- Architecting and implementing AI-native platforms, tools, and best practices to improve developer experience across Snowsight, Snowflake CoWork, and UX features
- Driving strategic initiatives to enable agentic development workflows and build infrastructure supporting 10x increases in developer productivity
- Enhancing platform reliability through observability, alerting, SLOs, and automated remediation
- Collaborating with product managers, architects, and cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end solutions
- Contributing to engineering processes, tooling standards, and mentoring junior engineers
The AppEx team owns the serving layer powering Snowsight, developer tooling, frontend infrastructure, CI pipelines, testing/validation platforms, and monitoring/logging stacks.
You should have 12+ years of experience developing tools for large codebases, with strong expertise in enterprise-grade build systems and distributed systems. Experience with or strong interest in AI/LLM applications (agents, prompt engineering, evals, productionized AI features) is essential. Fluency in Go, Java, or Python required. You'll work on-site at either Bellevue, WA or Menlo Park, CA.
