Ping Identity is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead the technical evolution of its global, multi-tenant SaaS identity platform serving Fortune 100 enterprises. This is a high-impact individual contributor role focused on architecture, scalability, and technical leadership at company-wide scope.
Key responsibilities include contributing to long-term technical vision for multi-tenant service architecture; leading the design of distributed systems capable of handling rapid global growth while maintaining sub-millisecond latency; partnering with SRE and DevOps to enhance CI/CD pipelines, automated scaling, and self-healing infrastructure; mentoring senior engineering staff and driving rigorous design reviews; and leading technical adoption of AI across product capabilities and the software development lifecycle.
Mandatory technical skills include deep expertise in Java and Spring Boot for high-scale microservices (connection pooling, JVM tuning, asynchronous programming, cache management, REST API design); strong understanding of Apache Kafka for event-driven architectures (consumer groups, partitioning, tenant fan-out, event sourcing, exactly-once processing); hands-on experience with LDAP and OpenSearch for large-scale identity and search workloads; strong experience designing and operating applications on AWS; working knowledge of React.js; and experience designing resilient, highly available, multi-tenant distributed systems with strong observability.
Desirable skills include Identity and Access Management (IAM) expertise (OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SCIM provisioning, SAML federation); identity lifecycle management knowledge; Kubernetes and container orchestration experience; and experience building enterprise SaaS platforms serving large-scale customers with stringent security and compliance requirements.
Requires 10+ years of software engineering experience with 4+ years in a Principal or Staff role focused on large-scale SaaS, plus BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
