Diligent is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to drive the next generation of their large-scale enterprise SaaS platform for governance, risk, and compliance (GRC). This is a high-impact technical leadership role combining hands-on engineering with company-wide architectural influence.
You will design and deliver secure, scalable, serverless systems on AWS using TypeScript and Node.js, modernizing critical platform components and setting technical direction for multiple engineering teams. A key focus is leading how AI capabilities are integrated across the product ecosystem—ensuring transparency, observability, and compliance throughout.
Key responsibilities include:
- Architecting and delivering secure, scalable serverless applications on AWS (Lambda, DynamoDB, Aurora, S3, EventBridge)
- Defining and evolving platform architecture to drive modernization, performance, resilience, and maintainability
- Designing and operating distributed, event-driven systems
- Shaping and implementing AI-enabled solutions with governance and responsible AI practices embedded
- Owning Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, AWS CDK, CloudFormation) for reliable cloud infrastructure provisioning
- Mentoring senior engineers, influencing technical decisions across teams, and communicating complex concepts to diverse stakeholders
Required qualifications:
- 12+ years building secure, production-grade software systems
- Proven track record architecting and delivering cloud-native, serverless applications on AWS
- Strong expertise in Node.js, TypeScript, REST API design, and modern front-end frameworks (Angular or React)
- Deep understanding of distributed systems and data stores (Aurora, DynamoDB, S3) including event-driven architectures
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools, Docker, and modern CI/CD
- Strong SQL skills including performance tuning at scale
- Solid understanding of AI fundamentals and experience building or integrating AI-powered systems with monitoring and compliance
Preferred: experience as a trusted technical advisor across multiple teams, background mentoring teams through AI adoption and platform modernization, or CS/Engineering degree (or equivalent).
