Coworker.ai is seeking a Principal Software Engineer with 10+ years of experience to help build the foundation for the next era of work. This is a hands-on technical role where you'll spend the strong majority of your time shipping high-quality code while providing thought leadership and mentorship to the engineering team. In this role, you will own the architecture and technical roadmap for a core domain, diving deep into the hardest problems when needed. You'll mentor senior and staff engineers, serve as the technical escalation point for your domain, and be a thought leader in the enterprise AI space. You'll represent Coworker externally through talks, blog posts, or open-source contributions, and guide early technical architecture decisions that will have lasting impact. Key responsibilities include establishing engineering culture and standards, helping the product team craft vision and strategy while proposing innovative solutions, driving cross-org technical initiatives with measurable business impact, and managing incident response for company-critical issues. You'll also participate in hiring and interviewing for senior+ roles to raise the bar for engineering talent across the organization. You should have a bachelor's or master's degree (Computer Science preferred) and 10+ years of professional development experience. You need proven ability to own new products from zero to one, from system design through implementation to deployment. Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential, along with experience using AI aggressively to improve velocity. You should have deep expertise in at least two of: distributed systems, data pipelines, AI/ML infrastructure, security, or frontend architecture at scale. Experience with GoLang, Typescript, and Python is preferred, though any languages are acceptable. You must have proven ability to lead without direct authority and experience defining SLAs, SLOs, and running production systems at scale with strong operational discipline. The company offers unlimited paid time off, medical/dental/vision coverage, early and generous employee stock options, $100 monthly health and wellness benefit, 401(k) plan, paid family leave, and Apple products for work.
