Array is a financial innovation platform providing credit and identity monitoring tools, privacy protection, and a financial ads marketplace to digital brands, financial institutions, and fintechs. The Principal Software Engineer is Array's highest-level individual contributor in Engineering, with technical scope spanning the entire company. In this role, you will tackle Array's most consequential engineering problems, working directly with the SVP of Engineering and across all products and teams. Your responsibilities include leading through ambiguity to drive initiatives from uncertainty to measurable outcomes, simplifying complex systems and improving architecture and engineering practices, shaping technical direction across the company with strong judgment and clear recommendations, and multiplying the effectiveness of senior engineers through coaching and technical leadership. You will own outcomes rather than territory, moving high-leverage engineering work forward across teams without requiring formal authority. You'll stay close to the work—using code, architecture, data, and production systems to build context and credibility—while knowing when your greatest impact comes from enabling others. The role emphasizes using AI tools as a default to think, build, and ship faster. Required qualifications include a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field, 10+ years of professional software engineering experience including Staff/Principal-level scope, and significant experience designing, building, and operating complex production systems with breadth across architecture, delivery, reliability, performance, and operations. You should demonstrate a career history of increasing scope and leverage with impact beyond your own code or immediate team, a natural sense of urgency, self-direction and ownership for remote work, curiosity and humility to challenge assumptions, and instinctive use of AI to accelerate your work.
