You will serve as Principal Engineer for Aidoc's Imaging Platform, shaping technical direction and long-term architecture while maintaining hands-on involvement in implementation. This role combines strategic architectural ownership with active technical contribution—you'll stay close to systems and code, ensuring architecture and reality evolve together.
Key responsibilities include leading company-wide and cross-team technical initiatives to ensure architectural alignment across product areas; defining and driving long-term technical strategy for the Imaging Platform in collaboration with engineering leadership; providing architectural guidance, conducting design reviews, and mentoring senior and staff engineers; leading and formalizing engineering best practices around performance, reliability, and observability; contributing hands-on to architectural spikes and first-of-a-kind implementations where deep expertise is required; evaluating emerging technologies to improve scalability, developer productivity, and system robustness; and representing the group in company-wide architecture discussions and technical forums.
Required qualifications include 15+ years of professional experience building large-scale, distributed software systems; proven track record in technical leadership roles delivering complex cross-functional projects; deep understanding of architecture, scalability, data consistency, and fault tolerance; experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS or equivalent), distributed computing, and modern DevOps practices; strong coding skills in modern backend languages (Python, Go, Node.js, Java, C#); experience designing and scaling event-driven architectures and data-intensive systems; strong technical leadership skills to align technical directors and executives toward shared vision; and first-principles thinking to guide teams through design trade-offs with lasting impact. Healthcare experience or familiarity with medical data standards (DICOM, HL7, FHIR) and EHR systems is advantageous.
The role is hybrid, based at Aidoc's Tel Aviv office (34 HaMasger Street) with parking available.
