Okta is building secure, enterprise-grade AI agents and intelligent user-facing experiences. As a Principal Software Engineer on the global AI Engineering team, you will be a senior individual contributor responsible for designing and building end-to-end AI solutions that power the next generation of identity security.
You will drive the architecture and design of AI solutions, leading cross-functional initiatives across Product, Design, and Data Science teams. Your responsibilities include designing and building core backend services that power AI solutions, including LLM orchestration, RAG pipelines, and generative AI features. You will also build high-performance Agentic Experiences (AX) for web and mobile, engineered for streaming responses and low latency.
You will champion observability and operational excellence to ensure AI services meet enterprise-grade standards for reliability and performance. You will mentor engineers across the organization, raising the bar on technical craftsmanship and solution quality across the full stack. Collaboration with cross-geo peers is essential to ensure globally aligned designs, shared roadmaps, and scalable architectures. You will partner with Security, Data, and Infrastructure teams to ensure AI adoption is secure, reliable, and enterprise-ready.
Required qualifications include 12+ years in software engineering with strong backend systems design and development experience (8+ years in Python preferred), and 6+ years with modern front-end frameworks like React, Next.js, and TypeScript. You should have proven experience building and deploying production-grade AI applications and services, with a strong background in distributed systems, microservices, and resilient APIs on cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure). Experience with agentic frameworks like LangChain, LangGraph, and LangSmith is a strong plus.
