Zscaler is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join the Control Path team in San Jose. This is a hybrid role reporting to the Director of Software Development Engineering. You will drive the development of new features and enhanced functionality for Zscaler's cloud-native Zero Trust Exchange platform, which protects customers from cyberattacks and data loss by securely connecting users, devices, and applications.
Key responsibilities include:
- Define software design specifications and implement bug-free code using test-driven methodology and modern AI-based coding tools
- Refactor existing code to improve maintainability and reusability
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams (Security, UI, Platform, Analytics, Quality Assurance)
- Partner with Product Management on detailed product requirements
- Diagnose and resolve complex customer issues with full ownership
You should have 12+ years of software development experience building large-scale, reliable, and scalable applications, preferably in Python or Golang. Required expertise includes hands-on experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure; solid knowledge of cloud networking (Transit Gateway, IGW, NATGW, NACL, security groups, GWLB, ILB, Route53, Azure DNS); and certificate/token-based authentication and authorization.
Preferred qualifications include experience implementing highly scalable control plane architectures for cloud-scale products, strong distributed systems and SaaS development experience, and deep knowledge of firewalls and networking protocols.
