Prellis Biologics is seeking a Principal Scientist to lead analytical characterization of therapeutic antibodies and complex biologics. The role sits within the Therapeutics team and bridges Antibody Discovery, Protein Engineering, and CMC (Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Controls) functions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Comprehensive analytical characterization of monoclonal antibodies (mAbs), bispecific antibodies, Fc-fusion proteins, and related biologics
- Biophysical and developability assessments using techniques: thermal stability (Tm), aggregation (Tagg/Uncle), particle size analysis, AC-SINS, hydrophobic interaction chromatography (HIC), capillary isoelectric focusing (cIEF), analytical size-exclusion chromatography (aSEC), and binding via polarization (BVP) assays
- Data generation, analysis, and interpretation to support lead candidate selection, formulation development, stability studies, and analytical comparability assessments
- Design, execution, troubleshooting, and optimization of analytical methods
- Technical reporting and cross-functional communication of experimental findings
- Laboratory documentation and compliance with safety and quality standards
Required qualifications:
- Ph.D. or M.S. in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related discipline
- Minimum 3 years of industry experience in analytical characterization of therapeutic antibodies, bispecific antibodies, Fc-fusion proteins, or biologics
- Hands-on expertise with protein characterization techniques listed above
- Demonstrated ability to independently design experiments, analyze data, solve technical challenges, and communicate findings
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and written communication skills
Preferred qualifications include antibody developability and stability profiling experience, LC-MS-based characterization (intact mass, subunit analysis, peptide mapping, PTM analysis), bioanalysis of serum/plasma for PK/PD studies, antibody-peptide drug conjugate characterization, and knowledge of regulatory expectations for biologics development.
