Salary: USD 180,000 - 263,000 / annual
Terray Therapeutics is a venture-backed biotechnology company combining nanotechnology, experimental science, machine learning, and automation to transform small-molecule drug discovery and development. The company's EMMI platform (Experimentation Meets Machine Intelligence) powers iterative cycles of molecular design and wet-lab experimentation that improve understanding of biochemical interactions and guide next-generation drug discoveries.
You will serve as a resident expert in structural biology and protein biochemistry, working across multidisciplinary teams to generate constructs, lead protein purification efforts, and support assay design and screening. Your expertise will guide target validation and optimization of small-molecule hits from Terray's proprietary platform.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leverage structural biology expertise to guide protein construct design and purification strategy across programs; assess crystallography needs to enable programs or validate targets
- Partner closely with scientists across biology, chemistry, platform, screening, data, and computational teams to ensure correct implementation of constructs and purified proteins
- Manage relationships and partnership protein needs across a network of CROs
- Guide protein quality control and stability investigation of purified protein material to ensure consistency across assays and platform data
- Build effective protein management and organization workflows
- Maintain and manage protein inventory and registration within Benchling
- Apply effective protein design toward assay development (biochemistry vs. biophysical assays)
This is a full-time, onsite role in a hands-on environment where you will be accountable, vested in a vision of excellence, and actively contributing to the company's success.
REQUIREMENTS:
Required:
- PhD in Structural Biology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, or related field plus at least 10 years of additional experience
- Extensive experience in protein purification, including construct design, expression, and purification in multiple systems (E. coli, Insect, Mammalian); experience investigating a broad range of protein families
- Experience leveraging structural biology and protein structure/function to evaluate novel drug targets and small-molecule binding
- Ability to work in multidisciplinary, matrixed environment across multiple concurrent projects and programs
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Preferred:
- Hands-on experience in structural biology, particularly X-ray crystallography and/or Cryo-EM with accompanying software to investigate, analyze, and assess small-molecule binding to targets of interest
