Docker is seeking a Principal Product Manager for its AI Gateway, a new product that enables developers to securely connect AI agents to language models within sandboxed environments. This role sits at the intersection of developer experience, infrastructure, security, and AI—addressing how autonomous agents safely access models while giving organizations the governance and controls they need.
You will own the complete product strategy and roadmap for the gateway, balancing developer adoption with enterprise requirements. Key responsibilities include:
- Defining the vision, roadmap, and success metrics for the AI Gateway, translating complex infrastructure and security requirements into intuitive workflows.
- Working directly with developers, AI teams, platform engineers, and security stakeholders to validate solutions and guide investment priorities.
- Simplifying the onboarding journey from launching a sandbox, authenticating, selecting a model, and completing the first useful task.
- Partnering with engineering and design to build cohesive developer experiences across APIs, CLI tools, admin interfaces, documentation, and integrations with AI coding tools.
- Shaping model access and interoperability by working with inference providers to evaluate capabilities, plan integrations, and align on capacity, reliability, and pricing.
- Translating enterprise safety and governance requirements (identity, access management, credential protection, policy enforcement, auditability) into clear, usable capabilities.
- Guiding reliability and cost-management decisions, including traffic balancing, routing, fallback strategies, and inference cost optimization across multiple providers.
- Driving execution through focused product requirements, explicit tradeoffs, and partnership with customer-facing teams on positioning, onboarding, and continuous learning.
Docker is a remote-first, globally distributed company with offices in Seattle and Paris. The company has 20+ million monthly users and 20+ billion container image pulls, and is positioned at the center of how AI agents are reshaping software development.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 10+ years of product management experience, with demonstrated success building developer tools, infrastructure, security, or platform products.
- Proven track record taking a product from concept to launch, including validating customer demand, defining initial scope, and driving adoption.
- Strong technical background through software engineering experience or deep ownership of technical products; ability to evaluate API designs, understand system architecture, and make informed tradeoffs with engineering.
- Hands-on experience with AI tools and agent workflows, with an informed perspective on challenges of giving agents secure access to models, tools, and data.
- Strong product judgment and analytical skills, with examples of using customer research and product data to prioritize investments and measure results.
- Excellent written communication and cross-functional leadership, with a track record of aligning engineering, design, and go-to-market teams around clear strategy in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
