Axi is a global fintech brokerage offering margin and deliverable foreign exchange, CFDs, and financial spread betting across six regions. The company is seeking a Principal Officer (Money Laundering Reporting Officer) to lead compliance and anti-money laundering efforts for the trading platform.
In this role, you will serve as the single point of contact for all KYC-AML/CFT matters and be responsible for filing Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) with the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU-IND). You will own the KYC and Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) pod, ensuring all onboarded customers meet compliance standards and that the product effectively captures ML risks.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring product and business compliance with local and international KYC norms and AML-CFT regulations
- Filing STRs with FIU-IND in a timely and error-free manner
- Developing and implementing sanction screening frameworks
- Working with Travel Rule providers to mitigate risks from crypto deposits and creating risk policies
- Collaborating with the Product team to build ML risk detection engines for fraudulent transactions
- Liaising with Law Enforcement Agencies (LEA) on KYC-related issues
- Monitoring Virtual Digital Asset (VDA) travel rule regulations globally and developing SOPs to minimize friction from new regulations
- Owning internal KYC-EDD and compliance SOPs
- Identifying money laundering risks and ensuring regulatory compliance across all applicable jurisdictions
Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience in financial services, trading, or fintech
- 2-3 years of experience as a Principal Officer
- Deep understanding of compliance and risk management
- Experience in fintech, digital, startups, or high-growth environments preferred
- Strong collaborative traits with demonstrated problem-solving ability across multiple teams
- Knowledge of Web3 concepts including tokenization, custody, and Travel Rule
- Excellent strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments
- Bachelor's degree from a premier college in India; post-graduation preferred
