Payoneer, founded in 2005, is a global financial platform serving over 2,500 colleagues and customers in 190+ countries. The company simplifies cross-border business by removing friction from financial workflows—payments, compliance, multi-currency management, workforce solutions, and business intelligence.
You will be one of two Principal Mobile Engineers defining and building the next generation of Payoneer's mobile platform. This is a foundational architecture role with significant technical autonomy and influence across the entire mobile organization.
Key responsibilities:
**Tech Stack & Architecture**: You will own the strategic decision between native (Swift/Kotlin), Flutter, React Native, or hybrid approaches. You'll evaluate trade-offs across performance, binary size, hiring market dynamics, team contribution velocity, and long-term maintenance costs. You'll defend this decision to engineering, product, and executive leadership.
**Platform Foundation**: Design and build the host application architecture, including module boundaries, navigation and lifecycle models, dependency injection, state management, threading/concurrency, networking, persistence, observability, logging, and testing strategies. Your abstractions will be the first impression every product team has of mobile engineering at Payoneer.
**Contribution Model**: Define how product teams integrate features into the host app—module boundaries, public APIs, lifecycle hooks, dependency policies, build patterns, version compatibility, and developer experience. You'll establish standards that make contributing good features easy and bad ones hard.
**Performance & Reliability**: Own performance budgets (startup time, frame rate, memory, battery), binary size, crash-free rate, and stability as first-class disciplines with measured gates. Build and maintain the CI/CD, signing, release, and rollout pipeline. Establish observability that makes production debugging minutes, not days.
**Cross-functional Partnerships**: Collaborate with Application Foundations, Cloud Platform, DevEx, and Network & Security teams to ensure mobile integrates seamlessly with backend systems.
You'll work alongside a peer Principal, allowing specialization by platform (iOS/Android) if needed, and report to the Sr. Director of R&D, Cloud Platform.
