As Principal Mission Payload Engineer within National Security Programs, you will serve as the primary technical interface between K2 Space, customers, and partners, integrating advanced payload capabilities onto K2's satellite bus platform. You will support the entire program lifecycle from early proposal phases through spacecraft design, development, integration, test, and on-orbit operations.
Key responsibilities include managing payload integration across the full satellite lifecycle; serving as the primary customer interface for payload integration and leading technical discussions in design reviews; developing, maintaining, and negotiating payload interface control documentation across mechanical, electrical, software, power, and mission domains; creating and executing payload interface verification and validation plans; and representing K2 Space in critical customer engagements and verification milestones.
You will work closely with Program Managers and key engineering disciplines to define and negotiate payload interfaces and develop integration and test plans ensuring successful mission execution. The ideal candidate has strong multi-disciplinary engineering skills, hands-on experience, and excellent communication abilities to effectively collaborate with National Security customers and stakeholders. This role involves shaping how Mission Payload Engineering conducts business both internally and externally, with multiple launches planned for 2027 and scaling to 100 satellites per year.
