Anduril Industries is seeking a Principal Mechatronics Engineer to join the Space Special Programs team in Chantilly, Virginia. This role focuses on designing, developing, and operating advanced spacecraft and space systems that serve critical functions in the space architecture. You will work on core technologies including optical systems, batteries, mechanisms, control systems, and sensors.
As a Principal Engineer, you will serve as a highly experienced technical resource responsible for implementing and influencing the team's development roadmap. Your responsibilities include mentoring and growing the engineering team while contributing as an individual contributor in both technical and strategic areas. The role demands high ownership and frequent collaboration across disciplines including product, engineering, sales, logistics, operations, and mission success teams.
Key responsibilities include executing rapid evaluation of engineering concepts across multiple fields, creating solutions to blue-sky engineering problems and targeted mission needs through analysis, design, and experimentation, and designing, analyzing, implementing, and testing complex electro-mechanical systems. You will be hands-on and practical, with significant experience designing, analyzing, building, and operating spacecraft mechanical, opto-mechanical, and both passive and active mechanisms. Experience machining components is a significant plus.
