Re:Build Manufacturing is a venture-backed advanced manufacturing platform that partners with industrial companies and innovators to take products from concept to full-scale production across aerospace & defense, electrification, medical, energy, and robotics verticals. Re:Build Fikst, located in Wilmington, MA, is a product development and engineering consulting firm within the Re:Build ecosystem, specializing in biomedical instruments, microfluidics, specialty plastics, optics, industrial automation, and robotics. The firm operates in-house laboratory and rapid prototyping capabilities including CNCs, 3D printers, waterjet and laser cutters.
You will lead a mechanical engineering team of 3–15 engineers as a player-coach, mentoring and developing the next generation of product development engineers. Your responsibilities include supporting and mentoring product development teams advancing new technologies, serving as the technical backstop for project teams, providing guidance on complex engineering problems, and coaching on softer skills including project management, proposal writing, and budget reviews. You will work across diverse technical disciplines—electrical engineers, optical engineers, manufacturing partners, and industrial designers—in a fast-paced consulting environment.
You bring a BS in mechanical engineering or related field, broad technical background with a desire for continuous learning, and proven experience in consulting and leading technical teams. You have hands-on expertise in 3D CAD (Solidworks preferred), manufacturing processes (injection molding, machining, sheet metal, casting), and ideally experience designing biomedical or automation products. You are a creative problem solver who connects scientific theory with engineering design, an exceptional communicator who interprets client needs, and a collaborator who thrives in multidisciplinary teams.
Re:Build offers all employees company ownership and profit-sharing at all levels, comprehensive benefits (medical, dental, vision, retirement, PTO), and the opportunity to revitalize American manufacturing and create meaningful jobs in historically deindustrialized regions.
