Form Energy is seeking a Principal Manufacturing Engineer to lead the development and deployment of battery cell assembly manufacturing systems at their high-volume production facility in Weirton, WV. This is a hands-on technical leadership role focused on scaling iron-air battery manufacturing from prototype to full production.
You will own the complete manufacturing engineering ecosystem, including equipment selection, process design, and deployment. Key responsibilities include: developing manufacturing workstations from manual benchtop stations to fully automated integrated systems; providing Design for Manufacturability (DFM) feedback to design engineers; selecting and partnering with equipment integrators; installing, commissioning, and qualifying new equipment; designing robust processes for safety, uptime, and quality; debugging and resolving time-sensitive manufacturing issues; and collaborating across design, supply chain, operations, safety, and facilities teams.
This role demands 18+ years of equipment or manufacturing engineering experience, ideally in electro-mechanical assembly. Required skills include direct experience purchasing and setting up automated manufacturing equipment, writing Standard Operating Procedures, providing DFM/DFA feedback, and hands-on build/test capabilities. A BS in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering is required. Experience with plastic and metal welding, automated assembly, inspection, test systems, human-assist automation, automation programming, and MES systems is valued but not required.
