ClickUp is seeking a Principal Frontend Engineer to lead long-term technical vision and strategy for frontend engineering across the organization. This is a hands-on technical leadership role combining strategic direction with implementation work in a high-growth, fast-paced environment.
You will define and drive frontend architecture strategy across product areas and platform investments, leading the design of scalable, performant systems in Angular and React that support rapid product development. You'll solve complex cross-team technical challenges related to performance, state management, scalability, and developer productivity, partnering deeply with backend, integrations, product, design, and engineering leadership.
Key responsibilities include raising the bar for quality, testing, maintainability, and engineering rigor across the frontend organization; providing technical leadership on highest-impact initiatives; guiding teams toward pragmatic decisions balancing speed and long-term quality; and mentoring senior and staff engineers to shape frontend engineering culture and standards. You'll influence roadmap and organizational decisions through strong technical judgment and product partnership.
Required qualifications: 10+ years of frontend engineering experience with deep expertise in large-scale web applications; expert-level proficiency in Angular, React, TypeScript, RxJS, and state management systems (NgRx or similar); proven track record architecting complex frontend systems at scale; deep expertise in performance optimization, scalability, maintainable design, and reusable component architecture; experience driving technical strategy across multiple teams; strong judgment balancing competing priorities in fast-moving environments; outstanding communication and collaboration skills; strong mentoring background; and experience defining testing strategies for large-scale feature changes.
