ClickUp is seeking a Principal Frontend Engineer to lead long-term technical vision and strategy for frontend engineering across the organization. This is a hands-on technical leadership role combining strategic architecture work with implementation, designed for someone who can operate effectively in a high-growth, fast-paced environment.
You will define and drive frontend architecture strategy across product areas and platform investments, leading the design of scalable, performant systems in Angular and React that support rapid product development. You'll solve complex cross-team technical challenges related to performance, state management, scalability, and developer productivity, partnering deeply with backend, integrations, product, design, and engineering leadership.
Key responsibilities include raising the bar for quality, testing, maintainability, and engineering rigor across the frontend organization; providing technical leadership on highest-impact initiatives; guiding teams toward pragmatic decisions that balance speed and long-term product quality; and mentoring senior and staff engineers while shaping frontend engineering culture and standards.
You'll influence roadmap and organizational decisions through strong technical judgment and product partnership, working to ensure ClickUp's frontend systems remain fast, reliable, and adaptable as the business scales.
Required qualifications: 10+ years of frontend engineering experience with deep expertise in large-scale web applications; expert-level proficiency in Angular, React, TypeScript, RxJS, and state management systems (NgRx or similar); proven track record architecting complex frontend systems at scale; deep expertise in performance optimization, frontend scalability, maintainable application design, and reusable component architecture; experience driving technical strategy across multiple teams or product areas; strong judgment balancing speed, quality, and long-term architecture; outstanding communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional influence; strong mentoring background and passion for building high-performing engineering organizations; and experience with testing infrastructure and ability to define testing strategies for large-scale feature changes.
