Fin (part of Intercom) is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead the technical direction and architecture of its web platform. The web platform is a strategic growth lever for the company, powering storytelling, brand experimentation, and product discovery across marketing and growth surfaces.
In this role, you will own and evolve the architecture of Fin's web platform, defining long-term technical strategy focused on scalability, performance, developer productivity, observability, and reliability. You'll collaborate closely with marketing, design, analytics, and data science teams to ensure the platform supports their goals with accuracy and agility.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning the web platform architecture and long-term technical strategy
- Leading design and implementation of MarTech systems including event tracking, attribution, funnel reporting, and A/B testing infrastructure
- Partnering with engineers across web, infrastructure, and data teams to create a cohesive technical ecosystem
- Mentoring engineers across the team and organization on architecture, data modeling, and engineering best practices
- Setting standards for technical excellence in reliability, maintainability, and code quality
- Providing technical leadership to Engineering Managers, Product Managers, and executives
- Contributing hands-on to the codebase, leading by example on key projects
Required qualifications:
- 12+ years of software engineering experience
- Deep expertise in Next.js and the React ecosystem
- Experience with headless CMS platforms (Contentful, Sanity) including content modeling and multi-site architecture
- Infrastructure-as-code experience (Terraform), AWS/CloudFront/S3, and deployment platforms like Vercel
- Experience designing or operating experimentation infrastructure, A/B testing frameworks, and attribution systems
- Strong understanding of web analytics and data instrumentation (event tracking SDKs, Google Tag Manager)
- Full-stack codebase awareness with solid frontend architecture knowledge
- Experience in continuous delivery environments with emphasis on incremental, high-quality shipping
- Exceptional cross-functional collaboration skills with product, marketing, analytics, and design teams
- Proven mentorship ability and track record of raising engineering excellence standards
