Re:Build Fikst, part of Re:Build Manufacturing, is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to lead electrical and electronics design across diverse product development projects. The role combines hands-on engineering with mentorship and technical leadership in a consulting environment.
You will design innovative electrical and electronic solutions for products in medical devices, robotics, industrial automation, life sciences, and emerging technologies. Your responsibilities span the entire product development lifecycle: early concept and architecture, prototyping, testing, verification, manufacturing, and production support. Technical work includes analog and digital circuitry, power systems, embedded electronics, sensor interfaces, instrumentation, PCB assemblies, and electromechanical control systems.
As a player-coach, you will mentor less experienced engineers on electrical and electronic system design while remaining deeply hands-on. You'll build, troubleshoot, and refine prototypes using industry-standard laboratory equipment (CNCs, 3D printers, waterjet and laser cutters). Collaboration is central: you'll partner with firmware, mechanical, manufacturing, and industrial design engineers on multidisciplinary teams.
Client engagement is a key part of the role. You'll work directly with clients to understand technical challenges, participate in technical reviews and demonstrations, and partner with suppliers and manufacturing teams to ensure successful product realization.
Re:Build Fikst operates within Re:Build Manufacturing's broader ecosystem, which includes composites, industrial design, structural analysis, and embedded systems capabilities across multiple sites. The company's mission is revitalizing America's manufacturing base and creating meaningful jobs, particularly in historically deindustrialized regions.
You should be a creative problem solver who connects scientific theory with engineering design, a strong communicator who explains technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences, and an adaptable lifelong learner energized by variety. Experience with complex electrical engineering projects, broad electrical disciplines, and a passion for developing products that have never existed before are essential.
