Words With Friends Instant, part of Zynga (a Take-Two Interactive label), is seeking a Principal Data Analyst to serve as the analytics owner for the game. You will be the go-to person for product, design, and engineering teams on player behavior, feature health, experimentation, and game strategy.
In this role, you will:
• Analyze long and short-term player trends to deliver insights that influence product direction and strategy
• Design statistically sound A/B tests and experiments that drive measurable impact on revenue, retention, and engagement
• Build and maintain comprehensive dashboards and ETL pipelines to keep the organization informed on game performance
• Analyze player behavior to understand motivations and preferences, translating findings into actionable experience improvements
• Communicate complex analyses to senior and executive stakeholders, influencing product and game strategy at the leadership level
• Support feature tuning across the game to optimize for long-term game and feature health
• Design and maintain ETL pipelines to extract, transform, and load data from multiple sources, ensuring a single source of truth
• Design game telemetry to capture meaningful player interaction data
• Actively play and engage with games to maintain first-hand understanding of player experience and mechanics
• Monitor and maintain the integrity of tools and models used to streamline workflows and personalize player experience
• Participate in the Analytics Org's AI initiative to increase analyst impact through LLMs
• Share and promote analytics best practices across games and teams

REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or related quantitative field (Master's or PhD preferred)
• Minimum 8 years in data science or analytics roles, with preferably 6 years in Product Data Science or Gaming Analytics
• Demonstrated experience guiding product teams through complex decisions and analyses with ambiguous data
• Proficiency in Python and SQL
• Demonstrated experience in data visualization, statistical analysis, and machine learning
• Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to explain complex data in simple, actionable terms
• Highly self-motivated with keen problem-solving ability and willingness to take ownership
• Proven ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
• Familiarity with BI tools like Tableau and version control systems such as Git (advantageous)
• Familiarity with AI/ML concepts or experience automating recurring analytics workflows (plus)
• Experience in gaming, mobile, or consumer tech industries (bonus)
