Salary: USD 153,000 - 204,000 / annual
Datadog is seeking a Principal, Brand Editorial to lead the evolution of the company's brand voice and narrative. As the founding writer on a multidisciplinary brand team, you will shape how Datadog communicates across all channels—campaigns, events, web, video, social, product marketing, and beyond.
Key responsibilities include:
- Define and evolve Datadog's writing style, tone, and point of view, establishing consistent quality standards across all brand experiences
- Concept and write high-impact brand work including campaigns, videos, product launches, and major event experiences
- Build practical voice and messaging systems, including style guides, messaging frameworks, and writing standards that teams can apply confidently
- Design AI-enabled writing workflows by creating prompts, custom skills, evaluation approaches, and guardrails to help teams produce on-brand content at scale
- Partner early with Brand, Creative, Product Marketing, Web, Corporate Communications, and other teams to establish messaging and strengthen briefs and concepts
- Coach internal partners and enable agencies and contractors to apply Datadog's voice consistently without creating bottlenecks

Requirements:
- 8+ years of writing experience with a portfolio demonstrating range across brand campaigns, voice/messaging systems, long-form storytelling, and concise creative copy
- Experience writing for developer, technical, or enterprise audiences with ability to communicate complex technology clearly
- Proven track record building or substantially shaping voice guidelines, messaging frameworks, or writing standards that others have successfully used
- Hands-on creative leader who can establish direction, exercise strong editorial judgment, influence partners, and carry work through production
- Technology-curious with experience building with AI (not just around it); familiarity with modern workflows and ability to turn writing standards into scalable organizational tools
- Comfortable working through ambiguity, collaborating across functions, and helping teams become stronger communicators
