Scale's Global Public Sector team is building AI solutions to address critical challenges facing governments worldwide. The team creates custom AI applications impacting millions of citizens, generates high-quality training data for national LLMs, and provides upskilling and advisory services.
As Principal AI Ops Architect, you will design and develop the production lifecycle of full-stack AI applications while ensuring end-to-end system reliability, real-time inference observability, sovereign data orchestration, high-security software integration, and resilient cloud infrastructure for international government partners.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning production outcomes and long-term performance/reliability of AI use cases deployed across government agencies
- Overseeing full-stack platform health, ensuring seamless integration between AI core and all components (APIs, UI, etc.)
- Building automated systems to monitor model performance and data drift across geographically dispersed environments
- Managing technical lifecycle within diverse regulatory frameworks and international compliance standards
- Leading incident response for production issues in mission-critical environments
- Translating technical performance metrics into insights for senior government officials
- Partnering with Engineering and ML teams to influence future technical architecture based on field learnings
Ideal candidates have 6+ years in high-impact technical roles (SRE, FDE, MLOps) with public sector experience. You should have familiarity with international government security standards, proven experience maintaining production-grade applications, and deep understanding of full request lifecycle architecture. Proficiency in modern AI infrastructure (Kubernetes, vector databases, agentic development, LLM observability tools) is essential. You demonstrate ownership mentality, understand reliability implications in public sector contexts, and can communicate complex technical issues to high-ranking officials.
