The Pricing & Monetization team at OpenAI is responsible for designing pricing models, packaging, and commercial strategies that drive adoption and growth. This Pricing Strategist role focuses on consumer offerings, working closely with Product, GTM, and Finance leaders to shape how OpenAI's products create and capture value. You will develop pricing and packaging strategies across subscription tiers, usage limits, entitlements, credits, overages, and emerging monetization models. Your work will balance customer value, growth, and unit economics while ensuring pricing reflects a genuine understanding of customer needs and friction points. You'll partner with senior leaders to align pricing with product value, roadmap, and commercial motions, and establish lightweight but effective pricing governance including decision frameworks and performance tracking. Key responsibilities include developing innovative commercial constructs, creating clear recommendations grounded in customer preferences and market dynamics, and driving high-impact monetization decisions. You'll need to be comfortable with ambiguity, influence senior stakeholders, and operate in a fast-paced environment. Ideal candidates have 6+ years in strategy roles (consulting, business operations) and 3+ years of hands-on consumer pricing and monetization experience. You should have a track record of developing and launching self-serve subscription or usage-based offerings, with deep familiarity with various monetization models including seat-based subscriptions and usage-based pricing. Experience with consumer hardware, connected devices, or hardware-plus-software bundles is a plus. You balance customer value with commercial outcomes, excel at cross-functional influence, and thrive as a self-starter in high-ambiguity settings.
