Anduril Industries is seeking a Power Systems Architect to design and build tactical AI/HPC data centers from the ground up. This is a new, highest-priority role focused on creating air-transportable, power-constrained, hardened systems optimized for AI inference at the tactical edge in austere, contested, and degraded/denied/intermittent/limited (DDIL) environments.
You will architect the complete electrical infrastructure for these specialized computing centers, including medium-voltage (MV) and low-voltage (LV) power distribution, transformer selection, switchgear, UPS systems, battery energy storage systems (BESS), power distribution units (PDUs), busways, and rack-level power delivery infrastructure. The role requires designing power systems that support 1MW to 10MW data center installations where grid power is not guaranteed, necessitating large-scale generator or battery backup systems.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead end-to-end electrical power design for AI/HPC data centers, including MV distribution, substations, switchgear, UPS systems, and high-density GPU rack power delivery
- Engineer power infrastructure specifically for NVIDIA GPU clusters (H100, GB200, etc.), coordinating with liquid cooling systems and evolving rack power densities
- Design utility interconnects, generator plants, automatic transfer switches (ATS), paralleling switchgear, transformers, and backup power topologies (2N, N+1, distributed redundant) meeting Tier III/IV and Uptime Institute standards
- Perform short-circuit, arc flash, load flow, and coordination studies using industry tools (SKM, ETAP, EasyPower); develop single-line diagrams, panel schedules, and construction documents
- Architect microgrids for expeditionary environments with integrated generators, energy storage, intelligent distribution, and load management at MW+ scale
- Design high-voltage power systems meeting safety standards for field deployment
- Design air-transportable, modular systems (containerized, palletized, vehicle-mounted) that are rapidly deployable
- Build infrastructure optimized for austere and contested environments—extreme temperatures, limited grid power, SCIF-accreditable, electromagnetically hardened
- Collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical, controls, network, and hardware engineering teams
- Partner with defense customers to translate operational requirements into technical architectures
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field; 5+ years designing and deploying grid-scale MV/LV infrastructure; experience with 15kV–35kV MV systems and multi-MW power delivery; proven track record building and deploying production infrastructure from concept through operational scale; systems thinking ability to optimize across competing constraints; U.S. Person status; ability to obtain and maintain U.S. security clearance; up to 15% travel.
Preferred: Professional Engineer (PE) license; experience designing hyperscale or AI data centers.
