Salary: USD 160,000 - 215,000 / annual
Astranis builds advanced satellites for high orbits, providing dedicated, secure networks to large enterprises, sovereign governments, and the US military. With five satellites on orbit and a backlog exceeding $1 billion in commercial contracts, the company is expanding rapidly.
As Power Electronics Team Lead, you will directly manage and grow a team of junior and senior power engineers while driving innovation in geo-synchronous spacecraft design. Your responsibilities include:
• Building and leading a high-performing power electronics engineering team
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to define spacecraft power requirements and architectures
• Overseeing design, build, and implementation of power converters and systems
• Managing detailed schedules to align power development with overall program timelines
• Driving the complete power converter lifecycle: design, specification, component selection, circuit board design, implementation, verification, board bring-up, and debugging
• Supporting recruiting, interviewing, and hiring to expand the team
• Partnering with production and mission operations teams on hardware build and in-flight deployment
You'll need a B.S. or higher in electrical engineering or related field, with 5+ years of professional experience in fast-paced product design cycles and 5+ years of board-level power electronics hardware design from concept through production. You must demonstrate hands-on expertise in hardware development, the ability to design and build systems from scratch, and proven experience building and managing engineering teams with clear cross-disciplinary communication.
Bonus qualifications include experience with photovoltaics, Li-ion batteries and management systems, magnetics in power electronics, and radiation effects knowledge. US citizenship or green card required to comply with space technology export regulations.
