Salary: USD 105,000 - 135,000 / annual
Amca is building critical aerospace and defense components for the U.S. military and commercial aviation sectors. The company operates seven factories nationwide and delivers avionics, hydraulic, and electrical components for platforms including the F-35, F-16, F/A-18, 737MAX, 787, A320neo, and M1 Abrams.
As a Power Electronics Hardware Engineer, you will own the end-to-end design and development of new electrical hardware products, taking them from concept through flight qualification. Your primary responsibilities include:
**Design & Development:** Lead electrical design for flight-critical hardware, including schematic creation, electrical analysis, component selection, de-rating, and PCBA layout. Own prototype bring-up and early-stage iteration, including bench testing and functional validation. Work closely with customers to understand end-use applications and challenge requirements where appropriate.
**Cross-functional Collaboration:** Partner with test engineering to define and execute comprehensive qualification plans including functional and environmental testing. Collaborate with build and manufacturing engineers to ensure designs are manufacturable and incorporate design-for-manufacturability feedback. Manage drawing revisions, BOMs, and part configurations in accordance with aerospace standards and internal design controls.
**Continuous Improvement:** Iterate on existing Amca designs to optimize for reliability and cost. Evaluate product catalogs to identify expansion opportunities and assess factory capabilities for design, manufacturing, and testing.
**Team Development:** Mentor early-career engineers and assist with recruiting and building the engineering team.
You should have hands-on experience with electrical design fundamentals (power, filtering, logic, firmware), schematic layout, component selection, and simulation. Proficiency with debugging tools (oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers) is essential. The ideal candidate is a fast learner, comfortable with ambiguity, thrives with ownership and minimal oversight, and can apply first-principles thinking to simplify complex requirements. Familiarity with DO-160, MIL-STD, or other aerospace qualification frameworks is a plus.
