The Exploration Company is developing Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle with advanced cryogenic propulsion systems. We seek a Power Electronics Engineer to join the Huracan propulsion team, focusing on the development and testing of pump-drive inverters for cryogenic rocket engines.
In this hands-on role, you will design, develop, and troubleshoot power electronics systems including control/driver boards and battery systems. You will collaborate with a diverse engineering team (hardware, control, software, mechatronics, mechanical) to ensure successful integration and operation within the cryogenic engine.
Key responsibilities include:
- Improving and finalizing schematics and PCB layouts for power and control boards
- Performing bring-up, lab testing, and troubleshooting of power electronics systems in-house and at external facilities
- Supporting design optimization across the team
- Preparing technical reports and developing operating procedures
- Enhancing performance and safety of test benches
You should have a BSc or higher in electrical engineering or power electronics, with 2+ years in hardware development/troubleshooting preferably in aerospace, avionics, or automotive sectors. Strong experience with power electronics systems, drive/traction inverters, and tools like Altium Designer, PLECS, Matlab/Simulink, or LTspice is essential. You must understand power electronics principles, SiC semiconductors, gate drivers, and thermal management, with hands-on lab experience (soldering, rework, measurements, test setup preparation).
Desired qualifications include Power HIL prototyping, thermal chamber testing, EMC pre-compliance testing, radiation hardness knowledge, and familiarity with space standards (ECSS, MIL-STD, NASA-HBK). You are detail-oriented, safety-conscious, problem-solving focused, and communicate effectively in English; German or French is advantageous. The company values agility, transparency, collaboration, and a positive attitude in a dynamic environment.
