Commonwealth Fusion Systems is seeking a Power Business Research and Analytics Manager to support the Commercial Power Business teams as the company advances toward commercial viability of fusion energy. This role is critical to managing the permitting process for the world's first grid-scale commercial fusion power plant and laying groundwork for subsequent deployments. You will lead quantitative and qualitative analyses supporting day-to-day operations, establish governance processes and tracking mechanisms to ensure efficient project execution, and produce high-integrity deliverables including memos, talking points, slide decks, Excel models, and customer briefing materials with strong attention to detail and limited supervision. Key responsibilities include supporting customer and partner engagements by preparing tailored briefing materials, participating in stakeholder meetings, managing early-stage customer onboarding and project development activities, and translating complex technical information into clear business implications, risks, decision points, and recommended actions. You will contribute to continuously improving the stakeholder experience when engaging with CFS. You will work with Government Affairs to monitor, analyze, and synthesize regulatory developments, utility tariffs, interconnection processes, and local/federal clean energy policies to identify business implications and support strategic decision-making. This includes conducting market intelligence, competitive assessments, and benchmarking to inform strategy, and supporting the development of testimony and energy policy documents through research, networking with subject matter experts, drafting briefing papers, and providing analytical support. Cross-functional collaboration is essential: you will partner with fusion economics, engineering, marketing and communications, government affairs, and legal teams by gathering required market data, providing operational insights, and ensuring fluid information exchange. You will also design and optimize scalable business development workflows and implement technology, automation, and AI-enabled solutions to drive operational efficiency. Finally, you will develop, format, and refine executive-level presentations, proposals, and decision-support materials. REQUIREMENTS: - Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Public Policy, Mathematics, Engineering, or related discipline - 5 years of pre- or post-MBA professional experience in energy markets, business development, financial analysis, consulting, or project finance - Exceptional project management skills and written/verbal communication skills - Proven ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment and engage with individuals at all organizational levels - Ability to effectively communicate complex ideas in English, both verbally and in writing - Strong capabilities in regulatory research, data synthesis, and operational reporting - Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and MS PowerPoint (executive presentations) - Exceptional problem-solving abilities - Willingness to occasionally travel or work required nights/weekends/on-call (up to 10% travel) - Ability to work in a facility containing industrial hazards including heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, lead, high voltage, high current, pressure systems, and cryogenics BONUS QUALIFICATIONS: - Master of Business Administration (MBA) or equivalent advanced degree - Experience in state public utility commission filings, PMP certification, proficiency with project scheduling software (MS Project, Primavera P6), and GIS applications - Experience within clean energy transition, independent power generation, electric utilities, or working with large corporate energy buyers - Familiarity with wholesale power markets (ISOs/RTOs), power generation economics, or energy transition technologies - Demonstrated project management experience including planning, execution, risk management, and measurable business impact - Familiarity with data visualization tools (Power BI), project management software, or CRM platforms
