Vitalize Care is building intelligent operational software for hospitals, starting with labor management—the largest cost center (nearly 60% of hospital P&L). The company has raised over $32M and serves mission-critical functions that hospitals rely on every minute. You will be Vitalize's second platform engineer, owning the full spectrum of infrastructure, developer tooling, and AI adoption strategy. The role bridges traditional DevOps with emerging AI workflows, giving you unusual scope to shape how the engineering organization adopts new technologies. Key responsibilities: - Own CI/CD end-to-end: pipeline code, test orchestration, deploy safety, and preview environments (Buildkite + self-hosted runners) - Maintain the EKS cluster and supporting AWS infrastructure - Build developer tooling in close collaboration with internal stakeholders - Define observability strategy: tool selection, alerting, and data routing to the right teams - Maintain security and compliance posture across internal and external services - Lead AI adoption across Engineering: evaluate agent workflows, select tools, and build custom solutions for stakeholders - Extend beyond traditional infrastructure to include product analytics (working with PMs) and data pipeline support for the data science team The platform team at Vitalize is unique in that it gets to decide and own what AI adoption means for the organization. You'll work across the full stack: AWS/EKS, Vanta/Grafana/Buildkite, and React/Effect/Bun for internal tooling. Company culture emphasizes ownership ("Push the Car"), customer obsession (nearly everyone visits a customer site in their first month), candor, and bias to action. You'll be expected to own problems end-to-end and help wherever needed, regardless of role boundaries. REQUIREMENTS: - Deep passion for the healthcare/operations space - Strong hands-on experience with AWS, Kubernetes (EKS), and Terraform - Proficiency in CI/CD platforms (Buildkite or similar) - Understanding of infrastructure patterns: cybersecurity, observability, and deployment safety - Ability to build developer tooling (React/TypeScript or similar) - Empathy for other engineers and their needs - Desire to own work end-to-end, including failure modes - Bias toward shipping fast and fixing fast - Openness to adopting cutting-edge AI tools and workflows - Collaborative mindset ("our code" mentality)
