The company operates through brands including CMLS, nesto, and Nesto Cloud, managing over CAD $80 billion in residential and commercial mortgages. Recognized as a Deloitte Fast 50 company for three consecutive years, Nesto combines 50+ years of mortgage expertise with proprietary cloud and AI technology.
The Platform Team Lead will lead and mentor a team of platform developers while driving the vision and execution of Nesto's Internal Developer Platform (IDP). This role combines hands-on technical leadership with people management, requiring both strong engineering skills and interpersonal capabilities to elevate the IDP to the next level.
Key responsibilities include:
• Leading and managing a team of platform developers, ensuring efficient project execution, high-quality deliverables, and effective cross-functional collaboration
• Driving the evolution of the Internal Developer Platform to continuously improve developer productivity, scalability, and sustainable growth
• Working closely with internal consumers to understand their tools and processes, defining and delivering solutions adapted to their needs
• Building and shaping the IDP through Golang CLIs, microservices, and observability tooling
• Continuously improving developer experience across the organization by identifying gaps and expanding platform capabilities
• Contributing hands-on to the platform codebase through code development and reviews without becoming a bottleneck
• Applying software engineering principles to platform development, focusing on tools, infrastructure, and developer experience that enable teams to move fast and with confidence
The technical environment includes a modern stack: TypeScript/React frontend, Go backend with microservices architecture, Docker containers orchestrated via Kubernetes, Datadog APM monitoring, GitHub Actions and ArgoCD for CI/CD, Pulumi for Infrastructure as Code, and Google Cloud infrastructure. The team emphasizes GitOps, Internal Developer Platforms, and Infrastructure as Code best practices.
Nesto values accelerated growth, offering exposure to more production systems in one year than typical in traditional financial institutions. The company provides premium benefits (fully paid), 4 weeks vacation, best-in-class tools, and a hybrid working model.
Requirements: The posting does not explicitly state years of experience, specific technical certifications, or formal education requirements. However, the role clearly requires demonstrated experience leading engineering teams, strong proficiency in platform/infrastructure engineering (particularly with Kubernetes, Go, cloud infrastructure, and DevOps practices), and the ability to balance hands-on technical contribution with people leadership.
