Braze is the leading customer engagement platform enabling brands to build personalized messaging experiences across push, email, in-app, and more at massive scale. The company uses a diverse technology stack including Ruby on Rails, MongoDB, Redis, Kafka, and Kubernetes.
Developer Acceleration is a newly formed team within Engineering tasked with transforming Braze's infrastructure primitives—deployment, provisioning, and testing—into fast, self-serve paths that allow engineers to build, test, and ship without manually integrating multiple systems. The team also owns the frameworks and guardrails for safely building and deploying AI tooling internally, including AI agents.
As a Platform Software Engineer II, you will help build both sides of this mission from the ground up. This is a foundational role where you'll shape how the team operates, not just what it ships.
Key responsibilities include:
- Converting infrastructure primitives into simple, self-serve paths for engineers
- Building frameworks and governance for safely deploying internally-built AI agents, including access controls and safety guardrails
- Partnering with engineering teams to define infrastructure-as-a-service primitives and build monitoring/alerting to meet enterprise SLAs
- Creating opinionated abstractions, tooling, and guardrails that enable safe platform usage while improving observability and ergonomics
- Helping shape the on-call rotation as it stands up, working alongside Braze's dedicated platform support team
You bring 5+ years of experience building developer tooling, CI/CD pipelines, or similar software. You're comfortable with Kubernetes as a platform to build on and deploy to, not as an infrastructure administration focus. You care about good service and software design over language choice, recognize that AI tooling increasingly writes code, and have built or explored developer platform integrations like GitHub Apps, internal CLIs, or MCP. You think systemically about interfaces, boundaries, edge cases, and failure modes. You collaborate well across global remote teams and proactively fix broken things.
