Partiful is a social event-planning platform that helps users throw parties and make friends through in-person gatherings. The company has achieved significant recognition, including Google's Best App of 2024, Apple App of the Day (4x), and inclusion in TIME's 100 Most Influential Companies (2025). Backed by Andreessen Horowitz and Google Ventures, Partiful is rapidly scaling its user base and product capabilities. The Platform Engineer, Trust and Safety role is a high-ownership position focused on protecting users and the platform from abuse, fraud, and safety risks. This is a backend-leaning engineering role that bridges trust & safety expertise with platform engineering principles. You'll architect and implement AI-powered systems for real-time decision-making and policy enforcement at scale, building observability tooling to monitor abuse trends and respond to novel attack patterns quickly. Key responsibilities include: designing and implementing detection, investigation, and mitigation systems for phishing, spam, objectionable content, scraping, and fraud; balancing protective measures against user experience friction; collaborating with Operations to translate policy into enforceable rules; empowering Support with tooling and escalation workflows; partnering with Data Science on threat detection; and maintaining scalable, secure infrastructure on GCP (Cloud Functions, Firestore, Cloud Tasks, Redis, Pub/Sub). You'll participate in on-call rotations for T&S incidents, drive the Trust & Safety roadmap, and help shape the team's culture and foundations. The tech stack includes React (web), React Native (mobile), Node.js, TypeScript, and GCP with serverless architecture. This role requires 3–11 years of full-stack, infrastructure, or applied ML experience in fast-paced environments, plus 2+ years in trust & safety (consumer social experience preferred). You should have end-to-end enforcement system experience, fluency with consumer social abuse vectors, understanding of legal/regulatory/compliance requirements, expertise in serverless/event-driven systems, strong CI/CD knowledge, observability tools experience, and solid networking/security/performance fundamentals.
