Exiger is a FedRAMP-authorized AI platform company transforming supply chain risk and compliance for 550+ global customers, including 60+ federal agencies and 150 Fortune 500 companies. The EGS Delivery organization partners directly with U.S. federal agencies to deploy AI-driven supply chain and mission-intelligence capabilities.
As a Platform Engineer, you will design and operate the cloud substrate that powers Exiger's federal programs across AWS and GovCloud. Your primary mission is to build reusable, hardened patterns—account structures, Kubernetes platforms, CI/CD pipelines, observability stacks, and cost governance—that new programs adopt on day one instead of rebuilding from scratch. The leverage of this role is substantial: a single boundary pattern or golden-path template you harden once removes weeks of work and audit risk from every program that follows.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and maintain reference cloud substrate: AWS account patterns, networking, identity perimeter, and FedRAMP-aligned defaults that replicate across programs.
- Build and own a shared Terraform module library as a product, versioned and documented for confident consumption by distributed program teams.
- Operate Kubernetes platform patterns: cluster design, RBAC, network policies, autoscaling, and upgrade strategies.
- Build CI/CD paved roads (Bitbucket Pipelines, GitHub Actions, AWS-native) with security gates built in for self-service deployment.
- Design observability patterns (dashboards, alerting, SLO scaffolding) that travel with new programs.
- Own cloud cost governance across the portfolio: forecasting, governance, and visibility to delivery leadership.
- Support program teams adopting the substrate and harden patterns based on real-world deployments.
- Participate in customer-context conversations about cloud posture and ATO (Authority to Operate) progress.
- Carry on-call responsibility for the shared platform surface.
Required qualifications:
- 5+ years of production AWS cloud engineering experience with deep knowledge of IAM, VPC, EKS, S3, KMS, and CloudTrail.
- Hands-on experience operating inside a FedRAMP boundary (Moderate or High), not just commercial AWS.
- Strong Terraform skills, including module authorship for teams beyond your own.
- Production Kubernetes/EKS experience: cluster upgrades, RBAC design, network policy, autoscaling.
- CI/CD pipeline ownership at production scale with security gates (image scanning, dependency scanning, IaC policy).
- Production observability ownership at meaningful scale.
- Experience building for reuse: platforms, modules, or paved-road tooling consumed by other teams.
- Cloud cost management experience at scale (reserved instances, savings plans, chargeback/showback).
- Strong customer-facing skills and comfort discussing cloud and ATO posture.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
Nice-to-have: AWS Solutions Architect Professional or DevOps Engineer Professional certification.
The role is hybrid based in the DC Metro area (McLean, VA primary) with flexibility across New York and Richmond offices, and includes travel to customer sites as engagements require.
