Wispr AI is building a voice interface product (Flow) that has scaled from $2M to $50M ARR in under 12 months, serving millions of users and thousands of enterprise customers. The product allows users to speak instead of type on computers and phones, converting speech into polished text.
As Platform Engineer for Product Security, you will own product security end-to-end, from threat prioritization to defense architecture. Your responsibilities include:
- Design and implement security defenses across the platform, protecting against DDoS attacks and breaches as the company scales from millions to hundreds of millions of users
- Participate in design reviews early in the development cycle, embedding security into product decisions before they're finalized
- Build security into the platform architecture so that secure practices are the default and easiest path for engineers
- Mentor and elevate the security posture of the entire engineering team without becoming a bottleneck
- Address the unique security challenges posed by agentic AI systems, which can introduce vulnerabilities as quickly as they add speed
The role is ideal if you have strong vulnerability research skills, pragmatic judgment about security tradeoffs, and understand how to balance threat models with user experience. You should be someone who has naturally become the security expert on teams, even without formal assignment.
Wispr operates with ~60% of the team in San Francisco and the remainder remote (mostly US-based). In-office staff work five days a week typically; remote employees are flown to SF for 3-4 days monthly with all expenses covered. The company sponsors visas including H1B, O1, EB1, L1, and STEM+OPT.
