Bestow is a vertical technology platform serving major life insurers, modernizing a centuries-old industry through AI-powered automation and infrastructure. As a Platform Engineer II, you will own cloud infrastructure projects, automate cloud resources via Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, Pulumi), and implement developer tooling to increase product manageability. You'll work independently to define technical designs and execute work, collaborating closely with both Platform Engineering and Product Engineering teams.
Key responsibilities include: automating cloud infrastructure and administering platforms like Kubernetes, Pulumi Cloud, ArgoCD, CircleCI, and PostgreSQL; contributing to projects in TypeScript, Python, Go, or Bash; evaluating and implementing CI/CD and DevOps solutions; collaborating with product engineers to identify observability gaps and improve code-level reliability; creating tooling to enhance developer experience; managing incident response runbooks; and participating in a weekly on-call rotation for system reliability and blameless root-cause analysis.
You should have proficiency with GCP or other cloud platforms, hands-on experience with IaC tools, familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, or similar. Experience with AI-powered coding assistants (Claude Code), observability platforms (New Relic, Datadog), and version control (Git, GitHub) is valued. You'll report to the Manager of Engineering and work with a team that prioritizes precision, purpose, and collaborative problem-solving. The role is fully remote within the US (48 contiguous states).
