SPAN is an AI-native developer intelligence platform helping engineering organizations improve how their teams adopt and use AI in daily workflows. In this Platform Engineer role, you'll build internal platforms, tooling, and systems that help engineering teams move faster, ship more reliably, and reduce operational overhead. Key responsibilities include:
- Develop AI-powered platform tooling that identifies root causes of recurring operational work (KTLO), automates repetitive tasks, and recommends long-term engineering improvements.
- Create an internal developer platform featuring a software catalog, service ownership model, and engineering portal that teams enjoy using across microservices and monolith architectures.
- Improve developer experience by building workflows, automation, and self-service infrastructure that reduce cognitive load, streamline onboarding, and eliminate common engineering friction points.
- Leverage LLMs and AI agents to automate platform operations, incident response, documentation, engineering support, and developer workflows.
- Partner closely with engineering teams to identify platform gaps, improve reliability, and build scalable infrastructure enabling product teams to focus on customer value.
You should be a resourceful engineer who thrives in high-agency, fast-moving environments with experience in platform engineering, developer infrastructure, DevEx, SRE, or internal tooling. Ideal candidates have been early engineering hires, founders, or have built and shipped meaningful projects from scratch. Strong systems thinking, passion for improving engineering productivity through tooling and automation, and hands-on experience with LLMs and AI agents solving real engineering problems are essential. Comfortable working across infrastructure, backend systems, and developer tooling.
