Monzo is a digital bank on a mission to make money work for everyone. The Platform Collective builds and maintains the infrastructure, tools, and processes that enable Monzo's technology teams to succeed. The Infrastructure Platform team is responsible for running Kubernetes clusters, service mesh, and networking that power all of Monzo's microservices.
As a Platform Engineer, you will work across the full breadth of Monzo's core infrastructure and application platform with a balanced split between two critical areas:
**Platform & Infrastructure Engineering:** You'll enhance and maintain foundational tools and systems, working hands-on with Kubernetes clusters, AWS infrastructure, and configuration management using Terraform. You'll integrate and manage open-source components to support the platform.
**Developer Experience & Tooling:** You'll help other platform teams succeed by abstracting away complexity and enabling them to solve real customer problems. This involves building and improving the tools and abstractions that make it easier for engineers across Monzo to deploy and manage services.
Monzo is investing heavily in this team to support ambitious growth—scaling from 10 to 20 million customers, expanding product offerings, and establishing foundations for global expansion. You'll work with backend engineers and cloud infrastructure experts using software engineering skills to solve problems and manage cloud infrastructure across AWS and GCP.
The role is based in London with flexible working options. Monzo values in-person collaboration (especially Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays) but believes you'll do your best work where you want to be. If you live outside London and are asked to come to the office, Monzo covers the costs. The team is distributed across the UK, from Brighton to the Western Isles.
