Fervo Energy is seeking a Platform Engineer to design, build, and operate the shared infrastructure and tooling that enables the company's engineering teams to deliver software faster and more securely. This role is central to creating an internal developer platform that reduces friction and cognitive load across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Platform Hosting & Provisioning: Build and operate shared Azure infrastructure including Container Apps, private networking, managed identity, OIDC trust federation, and secrets-free CI/CD pipelines. Develop self-service and auto-provisioning tooling so teams can quickly move from repository to live, governed service.
Shared Platform Services: Operate core infrastructure (API gateway, service catalog, service discovery) that teams would otherwise rebuild for every project. Make capabilities discoverable and consumable by both engineers and AI agents.
Security & Compliance: Embed security from day one with private ingress, least-privilege IAM, and security scanning. Maintain audit trails aligned to NERC CIP, OCED, and SOX ITGC requirements—critical for energy infrastructure.
Adoption & Measurement: Work directly with teams to understand their needs, identify platform friction points, and iterate. Track time-to-deploy, adoption, cost attribution, and code review patterns as feedback signals.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent experience
- 3–6+ years in software development, platform engineering, or cloud engineering
- Hands-on infrastructure as code and CI/CD pipeline experience
- Expertise with secrets-free authentication (OIDC, managed identity, workload identity federation)
- Security-first system design: private ingress, least-privilege IAM, no long-lived credentials
- API design and consumption
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Experience leveraging AI tools like Claude Code
Preferred: Model Context Protocol experience, platform engineering principles (golden paths, service catalogs), developer-facing tooling (scaffolders, CLI tools), compliance frameworks (NERC CIP, OCED, SOX ITGC), event-driven architecture.
