Sensor Tower (now Data.ai) is seeking a Platform Engineer to enhance infrastructure, developer tooling, and delivery workflows supporting 100+ engineers. The role combines infrastructure and software development with a 65/35 split, focusing on cloud infrastructure, deployment automation, observability, CI/CD, and internal tooling.
Key responsibilities include improving developer experience and engineering productivity through tools and workflows that streamline development, testing, and shipping. You'll maintain infrastructure automation using Ansible, Terraform, and Terragrunt; enhance CI/CD workflow reliability and performance; diagnose slow builds, failed pipelines, and flaky tests; develop internal tools and test infrastructure; and improve observability across infrastructure and delivery workflows using OpenTelemetry and ELK. The role also involves leveraging AI to improve engineering workflows through cloud-based agent tools and helping teams adopt effective practices.
Required qualifications include experience developing and maintaining complex CI/CD workflows, software development experience (internal tools, APIs, backend services, automation), AWS or equivalent cloud provider experience, telemetry and monitoring experience (OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Kibana), strong Computer Science and System Design fundamentals, and willingness to learn Ruby and/or Go.
Desirable experience includes optimizing CI build times with Jenkins, Docker or Kubernetes, Ruby, Python, or JavaScript, and familiarity with build systems like Webpack or Gradle. The tech stack includes AWS, Terraform, Terragrunt, Ansible, Jenkins, Docker, ELK, ClickHouse, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and Ruby-on-Rails. Strong technical fundamentals, curiosity, and ability to work on diverse engineering problems are valued over knowing every technology in the stack.
