Catawiki is a curated marketplace for special objects, auctioning over 100,000 unique items weekly and having sold 25+ million objects globally. The Platform Horizontal function has evolved to support Reliability, Developer Experience, Security, and Quality across the engineering organization.
As a Platform Engineer, you will work at the intersection of development, infrastructure, and operations to shape and execute the long-term platform vision. You'll empower Catawiki engineering teams to deliver value with speed, reliability, and security.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building a self-service developer platform that abstracts infrastructure complexity and enables teams to deploy, monitor, and optimize applications independently
- Orchestrating cloud-native infrastructure, managing Kubernetes clusters and cloud resources with focus on performance, scalability, and cost efficiency through FinOps practices
- Boosting developer productivity by building and enhancing CI/CD pipelines, GitOps workflows, and reusable templates
- Driving reliability and scalability through fault tolerance, disaster recovery, and auto-scaling capabilities
- Improving platform operations and enhancing observability stacks to monitor health and resolve incidents proactively
- Collaborating with product teams to understand needs, build impactful solutions, and champion cloud-native best practices
You bring at least 5 years of production experience with Kubernetes, container orchestration, and cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or Azure). You have hands-on expertise with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Ansible), observability platforms (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, OpenTelemetry), and CI/CD automation. You demonstrate strong ownership, proactively addressing platform issues and working toward long-term scalability. You collaborate effectively with developers and cross-functional teams, treat failure as a learning opportunity, and continuously develop your knowledge of cloud-native technologies.
